Ivar "Andy" Anderson, 77, of Hannibal, Mo, passed away at 9:29 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at Tabernacle Of Praise Church. Pastor Michael Neff will officiate. Burial with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No.55 will be at Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the church. Smith Funeral Home and Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Anderson was born October 14, 1936 in Chicago, IL the son of Ivar and Eva (Johnson) Anderson, Sr. He graduated from Hinsdale High School in Hinsdale, IL in 1954. He married Eleanor Bown of February 14, 1976 in Darien, IL. Survivors include his wife Eleanor Anderson of Hannibal, MO; two sons, Martin Anderson and Robert Anderson of Bowling Brook, IL; three stepchildren, Gregory Hopkins (Suzette) of Romeoville, IL, Mimi Nolan (Billie) of Lombard, IL; Juli Verrant (Jeff) of Johnston, IA; one brother, Bob Anderson (Marge) of Ten Mile, Tenn; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Anderson, Donnie Anderson, Robert Rushing, Tera Verrant, Anthony Hopkins, Joey Verrant, D.J. Nolan and Kylie Nolan; one expected great grandchild; and two nephews, Darrell Anderson and Brad Anderson. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Dawn Jones. Andy was a member of Tabernacle of Praise Church, where he often attended the Saturday morning men's prayer breakfast. He served his country in the Navy from 1954-1956. Andy worked as a truck driver in the Chicago area and later as a custodian for the Hannibal School District. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Pallbearers will be D.J. Nolan, John Utterback, Ben Utterback, Jeff Verrant, Joey Verrant and Billie Nolan. Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Of Praise Church, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
