Helen Jean Tomlinson, born March 20, 1930, passed away in the early morning hours of June 30, 2012, at her home in Hannibal, Missouri. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Col. Robert C. Tomlinson, her mother Verna, her brother Charles and sister Marjorie. Helen leaves behind her two sisters: Dorothy Cohen and Betty Richards, and four children: Cathy (Jim) Smith, of Hannibal, Charles Harrill, Randy Harrill, and Colleen Pittman. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren are her legacy. Helen was known for many things, among them her acumen as a businesswoman (stockbroker, real estate agent and business manager), skill as an artist (painting and quilting), and love of travel (Europe, Mexico, and Asia). In the end, Helen was happy and hopeful. The night before her passing she spoke of her plans for her fall garden and reminisced with loving humor about her late husband Tommy. With regard to a recent invitation to join some young ladies for chocolate martinis Helen stated, with a smile, that she would be glad to join them but she will keep her chocolate and martinis separate, thank you very much. Helen is much loved and will be remembered fondly by her family and friends. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Memorial services will be held in Nevada with interment in Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada.
