Harry “Dean” Hamilton, age 90, of rural New London, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Richard Epperson will officiate. Burial will follow at Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation celebrating Dean’s life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Dean was born on January 2, 1936, in Frankford, MO, the son of Harry Edward and Lottie Mae (Epperson) Hamilton. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Juanita Jean Brown, on October 6, 1956. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1997, at the age of 60.
Dean was raised on the family farm outside of Frankford, MO, alongside his six brothers and one sister. He attended school in Frankford and graduated from Frankford High School in 1953. Dean proudly served in the National Guard from 1953 to 1956 and again from 1956 to 1959.
Dean and Juanita were married at Frankford Assembly of God Church, where they were longtime members. Dean faithfully served the church as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent and also led the song service. He later attended Salt River Christian Church in rural New London.
A farmer by trade, Dean proudly carried on the farming legacy established by his father and mother, expanding the family operation over the years with the addition of other farms. Farming was more than Dean’s livelihood; it was what he loved. He continued working alongside his son, Jackie, and grandson, Jared, until just a few years ago.
Dean always set the bar high for those who worked alongside him and led by example through his strong work ethic and dedication. Above all, Dean treasured spending time with his family, especially on special occasions when everyone could gather together around the table for a meal.
Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita; his parents, Harry Edward and Lottie Mae Hamilton; four brothers, Floyd, Dale, Jerd, and Harold Hamilton; and one sister, Helen Ruth Pressler.
Survivors include one brother, John W. Hamilton (Edie); one sister-in-law, Joan Hamilton; three children, Jeana Mundle and husband Butch, Jackie Hamilton and wife Donna, and Larry Hamilton and wife Julie; eight grandchildren, Michelle Acree (Jim), Christopher Mundle (Vikki), Jennifer Hamilton, Kristen Arnold (Trent), Jared Hamilton (Kyleigh), Michael Hamilton (Jill), Phillip Hamilton (Megan), and Brandon Hamilton (Adrianne); four great-grandchildren, Holden Elliott Arnold, Allie Nicole Arnold, Charlotte “Lottie” Jane Hamilton, and Evan Russell Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Mundle, Jared Hamilton, Michael Hamilton, Phillip Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, and Jim Acree.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salt River Christian Church.
