Elsie Sajban Moore

Elsie Sajban Moore, age 93, of Quincy, IL formerly of New London, MO passed away at 6:59 pm Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Bickford Cottage in Quincy, IL.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Steve Hayden will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation celebrating Elsie's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Elsie was born on April 11, 1930, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of George and Anna (Rell) Sajban.

She was united in marriage to Ray Hardin Moore on September 5, 1948, in Hannibal, MO.  He preceded her in death on September 4, 2016. They were one day away from their 68th anniversary when Ray passed.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Bangert (Dan) of Quincy, IL and Nancy Moore (Alan Steigelman) of Quincy, IL and son, Roger Moore (Eileen) of Columbia, MO.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Stephen Bangert (Amy), Kevin Bangert (Amy), Susan Decker, Joseph Lohmeyer, Adam Lohmeyer (Mandy Stone), Aaron Lohmeyer (Sherry), Jeremy Moore (Praise), Andy Moore and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Stanley Sajban and George Sajban; sister, Anna Cervenak and grandson, Jonathan Lohmeyer.

Elsie was a honor graduate of Hannibal High School and went on to become a farm wife, mother and homemaker. She stayed very active at home and involved in numerous activities within the church.  She was a member of the Ladies Aid at St. John's Lutheran Church while a member there and she was the PTA President at her children's school.  Elsie also volunteered for the Cancer Society.  Elsie took pleasure in gardening, reading, and baking.  She and Ray enjoyed time spent together fishing.  Being on the family farm was a happy place not just for Ray and Elsie, but for all the family to gather for meals and to just be together as a family.  Elsie loved her family and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Elsie was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of New London, Blessing Hospital Hospice or Donor's Choice, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
