Elizabeth Crawford Gingry (Leila Elizabeth Crawford Gingry) 99, of New London, Mo. went to be with her Lord at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal, Mo. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Barkley Cemetery in New London, Mo. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. There will be no visitation held. The Smith Funeral Home and Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Elizabeth was born in St. Louis, Mo. on July 6, 1914 the daughter of Charles W. and Lella Sellers Crawford. She married John Lyle (Bill) Gingry in New London at the parsonage of Rev. Schonn on May 19, 1943. Bill preceded her in death on August 3, 1982. Liz and Bill had two daughters, Mary Jane Gingry White and husband Charles E. of New London, Mo., Linda Lee Gingry Clark of Springfield, Mo. who passed away on June 11, 2000. Also surviving are granddaughters, Tracy D. Clark-Stovall and husband R. Christopher of Springfield, Mo. and their two sons, David Aaron Stovall and Brain Jacob Stovall, and Shanan Maria Clark Hood and husband Chad of Springfield, Mo.; son-in-law Charles L. Clark of Springfield, Mo.; and three dear friends, Eunie Whitaker and Lila O'Malley of New London, Mo. and Jeanie Raney of Springfield, Mo. Liz attended New London High School where she graduated as Valedictorian. She took three semesters at Central Methodist College and later earned a teaching degree from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She also took business classes from Bertha Seibel. Mrs. Gingry worked at Ralls County Probate and Magistrate Clerk and for John Briscoe, Attorney at Law. Liz said she had lived two lives, one married and one single. She said she preferred the married life best. She was loved by many including her daughters, son-in-laws, grand kids and great grandkids. Liz was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, New London. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of New London, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
