Elisabeth "Betty" Ruth Wells, age 94, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:20 pm Friday, August 8, 2025, at Monroe City Manor Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Bro. Wes Tischer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation celebrating Betty's life will be held 10:00 am until the time of the service Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Betty was born on January 10, 1931, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Ruben and Elisabeth Frances (Mappes) Fishback.
She was united in marriage to R.V. "Skip" Wells on May 8, 1949, in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2022.
Survivors include her son, Greg Wells (Jeanne) of Wildwood, MO; daughter, Vicki Gottman (Allen) of Hannibal, MO; six grandchildren, Chris Gottman (Stacey), Erik Gottman (Ashley), Amy Ogle (Adam), Jordan Wells (Tara), Carley Koke (Kevin) and Kyle Wells, (Cara); twelve great-grandchildren, Colton Gottman (Nicole), Walker Gottman (Nina), Kaellee Barnes (Nick), McKenzie McAfee (Dalton), Tray Gottman, Reid Wells, Charlie Koke, Parker Koke, Cash Wells, Lilly Koke, Kameron Wells and Kayden Wells; one great-great grandson, Hayes McAfee and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Fishback, Bob Fishback and Ted Fishback.
Elisabeth graduated from Hannibal High School 1948. She was co-owner and operator with her daughter Vicki of the Artique Frame Palette in Oakwood.
Betty enjoyed traveling alongside her husband across the United States from Alaska, Canada to Hawaii and even abroad to Europe. Gardening, decorating and flowers were all things Betty enjoyed in her free time. A love for country music, Betty enjoyed Thursday night trips downtown to Music Under the Stars and trips to Nashville. Betty's most adored times were spent with her family.
Betty was a member of Arch United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Chris Gottman, Erik Gottman, Adam Ogle, Jordan Wells, Kevin Koke and Kyle Wells.
Memorial contributions may be made to Monroe City Manor Care Center, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
