Edgar Francis Wilson, 82, of Monroe City, Mo. passed away at 8:43 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal. Pastor Steve Goughnour will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
Edgar was born January 21, 1932, in Hannibal, Mo. the son of Harvey Deforest and Emerine Evodia (Gentry) Wilson. He married Mary Louise Lefever on January 21, 1951 in Withers Mill at Providence Baptist Church. She survives him.
Survivors include his wife Louise Wilson of Monroe City, Mo.; one son, Ken Wilson of Elsberry, Mo.; five nephews, John Wilson, Roger Wilson, Stephen Wilson, David Wilson and Glen Wilson; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by one brother, Gentry Wilson and one uncle, Christy Gentry.
Edgar worked as a farmer raising livestock and grain on the family land that he grew up on. He also owned and operated a school bus that he drove for the Monroe City School District for 50 years, in which he was awarded several service plaques for his many years of service. Edgar enjoyed hunting, boating, collecting clocks and guns. He loved his beloved pets, especially Tiffany and Noel. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Monroe City United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Monroe City Ambulance District, Monroe City Manor Care Center or Donors Choice, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
