E. William "Bill" Mueller

E. William "Bill" Mueller, 68, of Hannibal, MO. passed away at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Hannibal. Rev. Dawn-Victoria Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Bill was born on March 14, 1947, in New Rochelle, NY the son of Coralie Gladys Frank. He was married to Carolyn Kay Atkinson on June 8, 1969, in Mason City, IA. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mueller of the home; two daughters, Lesley Sims and husband Larry of O'Fallon, MO and Monica Clayton and husband Will of Hannibal, MO; four grandchildren, Luke Sims, Lydia Sims, Emma Clayton and Eli Clayton. In addition to his mother, Mr. Mueller was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Kay Mueller in 1981. Bill graduated from Darien Connecticut High School in 1965, he went on to further his education at Culver Stockton College where he received a Bachelor's Degree in History and in 1973 he received his Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from North East Missouri State Teachers College (Truman State). Mr. Mueller worked as a history teacher and guidance counselor in the Palmyra School District until he went to work at Insurance Services in Hannibal as an insurance agent. Mr. Mueller was a very active member of the Hannibal Evening Kiwanis. Bill was an avid swimmer at the YMCA. If he couldn't be found at the YMCA you might catch him at home taking care of his yard or inside tinkering with his Lionel train collection that he was an enthusiast of. Mr. Mueller was also an avid New York Giants and Yankees Fan. The biggest love in Bills life was spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's events. Mr. Mueller was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Pallbearers will be Larry Sims, Will Clayton, Brian Campbell, Bill Lach, Steve Lowenberg and Walter Frank. Honorary Pallbearer will be the late E.W. Harder, DMD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church or Hannibal Evening Kiwanis, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
