Dorothy Isabelle Bleigh, 95, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:10 AM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. Pastor Dan Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born December 18, 1917 in Granger, MO the daughter of Edgar and Vesta Heglar Hanan. She married Thomas Woodrow Bleigh on January 26, 1947 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Thomas A. Bleigh and wife Jane of Hannibal, MO; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bleigh Zehring (Rick) of Cincinnati, OH, John Bleigh (Amy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Paul Koscielski (Jessica) of Quincy, IL, and Stephanie Koscielski of New York, NY; six great grandchildren, Andrew Zehring, Brendan Zehring, Aubrey Zehring, Cooper Bleigh, Emerson Bleigh and Conor Koscielski; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bleigh was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Susan Bleigh Koscielski; one step daughter, Sharon Bleigh; one son-in-law, Paul Koscielski; twin sister, Doris Lehenbauer; two sisters, Madeline Melson and Aletea Lucas; and two brothers, Rev. Cleatus Hanan and Dick Hanan.
Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hannibal, MO. She was a member of the Mary Magdalene Sunday School Class and former member of the Levering Hospital Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed reading, writing letters, walking the track, gardening and dressing up her concrete goose out front of her house with outfits for different occasions. She also enjoyed taking rides with her husband to look at job sites and to the farm to check on the crops. Dorothy loved to spend time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Bleigh, Paul Koscielski, Rick Zehring, Robert Bleigh, Rodney Cox, and Greg Bleigh.
