Dena Higgins, age 57, of Hannibal, passed away at 10:40 am Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at her home.
The family will host a Memorial Service on Saturday May 24, 2025, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Compassion Church in Hannibal, MO.
Dena was born on February 19, 1968, in Hannibal, Missouri the daughter of James and Gloria (Carr) Patterson.
She was united in marriage to Steven Higgins on October 8, 1994, in Hannibal, he preceded her in death on February 25, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Tiffany Higgins (Brandon) of Palmyra, MO and Jaiden Higgins; two sons, Tyson Higgins and Brandon Higgins (Vanessa); significant other, Delmar Dowling; six granddaughters, Ashlyn (Tristan "Howdy Doody"), Brileigh "Spanky", Macey, Lillian, Teagan and Jordan "George", two grandsons, Brayson and Karter "Wayno".
In addition to her parents and husband, Dena is also preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Patterson.
Dena graduated from Hannibal High School in 1986.
Dena passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, kindness, and the simple joys of everyday life. She was known for her warm heart, quick wit, and love of conversation—whether she was sitting on the porch with a cold Diet Mountain Dew, catching up with neighbors, or welcoming anyone who happened to stop by for a chat.
Dena found joy in the little things: cheering on her favorite football teams, watching shows like Hell's Kitchen, Fear Factor, Roseanne, and Little House on the Prairie, and cuddling with her beloved fur babies—Brutus, Chase, and Houdini. Her home was always filled with the warmth of family, friends, and four-legged companions.
Above all, Dena cherished time with her loved ones. Her presence brought comfort and laughter, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
