David Benton Hall

David Benton Hall, 76, of Hannibal, Mo. passed away Monday, September 4, 2017. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Ingmire will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. David was born on September 3, 1941, in Clearfield, Penn. the son of Sanford and Jane (Benton) Hall. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Lochmoeller on July 30, 1966 in St. Louis, Mo. She survives him. Other survivors include two sons, David Hall and wife Wendy and John Hall and wife Dianna; four grandchildren, Brooke, Emma, Benton and Sophie Hall; one sister, Marjorie Hall; one brother-in-law, Don Lochmoeller and wife Jane; one sister-in-law, Susan Bastian and husband Jim; and two nieces and one nephew. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents. David attended Pennsylvania State University and subsequently worked for the Ingersoll-Rand Company in Athens, Ny. and St. Louis, Mo. During this time, he served his country in the Army National Guard. For the past forty years David has been owner and manager of Mark Twain Supply Co. Mr. Hall was the past treasurer of The Missouri-Kansas Industrial Distributors Association and former member of the Hannibal Industrial Council and Chamber of Commerce. David enjoyed playing the trombone in the Hannibal Big Band. He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he had served on the Board of Trustees. David was a man of integrity who was very proud of his two sons and their families. He loved camping in his motorhome with his wife by his side and he could fix anything that would be a challenge to some. Pallbearers will be Larry McCluskie, Dana Ruhl, John Clayton, Phillip Smith, Cliff Ahrens, and Gary Moore. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
