Clyde Charles Craven

Clyde "Bud" Charles Craven, Jr., 67, of New London, MO passed away at 3:09 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at his home. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of New London, MO. Pastor Randy Downing will officiate. Burial with full military honors provided by the Emmette J. Shields, American Legion Post #55 will be in the Barkley Cemetery in New London. The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal. Clyde was born on August 24, 1949, in Hannibal, MO the son of Clyde Charles and Effie Ann (Barns) Craven, Sr. He was married to Cathy Jean Milewski on March 9, 1969, in Potomac, IL. She survives him. Other survivors include three sons Clyde Craven, III (Kelly) of Columbia, MO, Jeff Craven (Cindy) of Oklahoma City, OK and Chuck Syfert of Illinois; two daughters, Anna Craven of Springfield, MO and Donna Walker of Indiana; one brother, Tim Craven (Rosie) of Champaign, IL; one sister Marsha Downing (Junior) of Danville, IL; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Craven was preceded in death by his parents. Clyde proudly served his country during in the Army during Vietnam. He retired as an operator from American Cyanamid. Mr. Craven was a member of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55. Clyde was an avid hunter and fisherman, he especially enjoyed deer and mushroom hunting. Mr. Craven was a member of Riverside Nazarene Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Recreation and Environmental Stewardship Council, for the Disabled Veterans Hunt held at Mark Twain Lake, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
