Christopher "Chris" Hatton, 53, of Hannibal, MO passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Christopher was born on February 27, 1972, in Hannibal, MO the son of Dan and Marlene (Glascock) Hatton.
He was cherished by many and known for his buoyant free spirit and infectious humor that truly lit up every room he entered.
Chris's life was filled with passions that he pursued with vigor. A dedicated member of the NEMO Turkey Federation, he served as a hunter safety instructor, sharing his love for hunting with others. His enthusiasm extended beyond hunting; he loved to fish, go camping, and immerse himself in nature. Chris cherished family time and had a particular fondness for dining at the Mark Twain Dinette. A true fan of celebration, Halloween held a special place in his heart, alongside his unwavering support for the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Chris was an adventurer at heart, traveling out west, attending a KISS concert, and enjoying bonfires under the stars. He possessed a curiosity for history and took immense joy in learning, always seeking to share that knowledge with those close to him.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his brothers Randy (Edye) Hatton of Moroa, IL, Brad (Andrew) Hatton of Dallas, TX, and Jeff (JeanAnn) Hatton of Hannibal, MO. His sisters, Marla Hatton Wisdom of Quincy, IL, Sandi (Rick) Terford of Quincy, IL, and Toni Hatton-Park of Quincy, IL, will also hold his memory dear. Chris was not only a beloved brother but also a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, including Denyse, Justin, Miranda, Ian, Andrew, Carmen, Molly, Christian, Julian, Gracie, Caroline, Sophie, and Maddie, along with many great nieces and nephews who adored him.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Hydesburg Cemetery in rural Hannibal starting at 4:00 PM with his nephew Ian Hatton officiating.
Chris's presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will resonate endlessly through the memories shared by those he loved and who loved him in return.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NEMO Humane Society, Cuddle Cat Rescue, or Monroe Manor Activities Department in Paris, MO, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
