Carolyn Kramer was born on March 9, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Richard Kramer of Kansas City and Wilhelmina Key of Hannibal, Missouri. At around the age of three, her family moved to Weston, Connecticut. She attended Staples High School and then went on to Ripon College in Wisconsin, where she majored in French, including time in Paris studying at the Sorbonne. After getting her MA in education at Colorado State University, she started a thirty-eight year career teaching French and Spanish at North Branford Middle School. A dedicated teacher, Carolyn worked tirelessly to invent new and imaginative ways to make France and it's culture come alive for her students, ultimately bringing some to choose a career teaching French. She made her home in nearby Cheshire, Connecticut.
She traveled extensively as a youth and into her retirement, always welcoming the chance to return to her beloved France. A lifetime member of St. Paul's Westport Church, Carolyn served for many years in the Altar Guild and was active in Vacation Bible School.
Carolyn is survived by her brother Richard Kramer and sister Cynthia Kramer, and also cousins; Kandy Bearly, John Kramer, Cathy Kramer, Henry Kramer, Jana Dugle, Paul Kramer and Dan Kramer.
