Buford J Rhodes

Buford James Rhodes, 86 of Hannibal, Mo., formerly of San Antonio, Texas was called home to be with our Lord at his home on April 9, 2013. In accordance with Mr. Rhodes wishes, he will be cremated. Private family graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Grand View Burial Park. Rev. Michael Stoerger will officiate. Friends are welcome at visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Mr. Rhodes was born on December 17, 1926, in Santa Anna, Texas, to Douglas and Stella Mae Robbins Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Stephen Rhodes, son Samuel Douglas Rhodes and grandson Shea Kujawski. He was married to Mary Catherine Sohn on December 28, 1972. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Martha (Bruce) Benander of Springfield, Mass., and Jo Beth Moore of Washington, D.C. ; two sisters, Ruth Robbins and Helen Marie Dunn, both of Texas; two sisters-in-law, Ava Nell Rhodes of Texas, and Mildred Sarver of Hannibal, Mo., and her two children, Karen (Lowell) Bortoff of Quincy, Ill. and Steven (Martha) Sarver of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Lindsay Sieffert and her three children of Springfield, Mass., Shawn (Heather) Lane, of Florida and great niece, Andrea (Daren) Elston and their two children, Gage and Morgan.
