Billy J. Smashey

Billy Joe Smashey, Sr., 32, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:09 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal. Rodger Lane and Creston Frizzell will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. Billy was born on January 26, 1982 in Hannibal, MO the son of Emory and Cathleen (Webb) Smashey, Jr. He graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 2000 and married Jaime Brown on August 19, 2000 in Hannibal, MO. She survives him. Billy was a well known business man, operating Arbor Tree Service in Hannibal and the St. Louis area. Survivors include his wife, Jaime Smashey of the home; parents, Emory and Cathleen Smashey, Jr. of Hannibal, MO; grandparents, Emory Smashey, Sr. of Hannibal, MO; Ray Webb, Jr. of Hannibal, MO. and Billie Jean Hitchcock of Bourbon, IL; four children, Billy Smashey, Jr., Jaylie Smashey, Laikyn Smashey and Torren Smashey all of Hannibal, MO; four brothers, Derek Smashey (Ashley) of Kansas City, MO, Phillip Smashey, Emory Smashey III (Ashley) and Shawn Smashey, Sr. (Michelle) all of Hannibal, MO; fathers-in-law, Robert Charlton of Hannibal, MO and Robert Brown of Florida; mother-in-law Margi Charlton of Hannibal, MO; and numerous special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Billy was preceded in death by his grandmother, Loretta Jean Smashey, one brother, Terrance Smashey, Sr. and friend, Jeremy Ohrel. Billy was a member of Hannibal Church of Christ. He also was a member of the Hannibal Youth Wresting Club where he helped as an assistant coach. Billy enjoyed mushroom hunting, football; especially watching the Rams and the NFL Network, baseball; especially watching the Cardinals, riding four wheelers, watching his kids play sports and spending time with his family and friends, especially his kids. Pallbearers will be Derek Smashey, Phillip Smashey, Emory Smashey III, Shawn Smashey, Sr., Billy Smashey, Jr., Ben Boutwell, Greg Beckett and Mike Webb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Wayne Powell, Drew Davis, Chester Rickey, Robert Charlton, Matt Bramblett, Arron Bramblett, Dalton Cunningham, Lloyd Jones, Jr., Gavin Boutwell, and Gage Boutwell.
