Patsy Brice Obituary

Patsy Louise (Moore) Brice, 92, of Liberty, MO formerly of Hannibal, MO passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Liberty Health & Wellness Center in Liberty, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Patsy was born November 9, 1924, in Mexico, MO, the daughter of Dr. G.H. and Elva Mae (Wright) Moore. She was united in marriage to Richard Birney Brice on June 27, 1943, in Hannibal, MO at the First Christian Church. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1991.

Survivors include three children, Mikel Sue Burroughs and husband Gary of Gladstone, MO, Jeri Ann Brice of Gladstone, MO, and Scott Moore Brice and wife Glenda of Hannibal, MO; seven grandchildren, Gregory Booth (Candice), Chris Burroughs (Rebecca), Tracey Booth Wasinger (L.J.), Craig Burroughs (Sara), Julie Burroughs Fox (Jason), Jolon Riney (Kristin), and Lindsay Brice (Clinton Kelly). Also surviving are thirteen great grandchildren; Briley, Dylan, Jacob, Tom, Hannah, Jenna, Alison, Elizabeth, Addison, Nathaniel, Mikayla, Carson, and Claire, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Lee Riney on June 21, 2005, and a sister, Joyce Moore Hartley.

Patsy graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1942. She went on to further her education at William Woods College in Fulton, MO for 1 year before marrying the love of her life, Richard. Patsy was secretary for the family business, J.C. Brice Real Estate and Insurance Company, she also helped her husband out with office work as the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Sexton for many years. Along with these jobs, she was a homemaker and made sure her family was her first priority.

With a total of 53, you could say that one of Patsy's favorite hobbies was quilting. She is known for her "Cathedral Window" quilts, she also enjoyed playing Canasta on Thursday's at TJ's, cooking especially her potato salad and chocolate cake, camping, family fish fry's and carry-in dinners.

Patsy grew up during the Great Depression and knew what it meant to be very thrifty and to not waste anything. She practiced this throughout her life and passed this trait on to her family.
Patsy was a member of the First Christian Church in Hannibal, MO, where she held various positions throughout the years.

Pallbearers will be Gary Burroughs, Gregory Booth, Chris Burroughs, Craig Burroughs, Jolon Riney, L.J. Wasinger and Jason Fox.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Burroughs, Jacob Fox, Tom Wasinger, Nathaniel Booth, and Carson Burroughs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Hannibal, MO., Fairview Christian Church of Gladstone, Mo., or Cure SanFilippo Foundation.
