Margaret White

Palmyra

Margaret Ann White, age 86, of Palmyra, MO passed away at 12:01 pm Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.  Pastor Mark Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.

Visitation celebrating Margaret's life will be held 9:00 to 10:00 AM Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Margaret was born on December 13, 1935, in Palmyra, MO the daughter of Henry and Mayme (Lovelace) Conner.

She was united in marriage to Donald L. White, Sr. on December 25, 1954 in Hannibal, MO.  He preceded her in death on July 31, 2007.

Survivors include her children, Donna Brocksieck (Gene) of Clayton, IL, Linda Barker (Steve) of Maywood, MO, Donald (Boo-Boo) White, Jr. (Dwana) of Palmyra, MO, Terry Watkins (Woody) of Hannibal, MO, Judy Stratton (Tim) of Maywood, MO, and Shelly Bichsel (Glenn) of Stoutsville, MO; siblings, Leslie Conner, Shirley Burgtorf, Richard Conner, Howard Conner and Patty Roche; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. White was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Conner. Margaret graduated from Palmyra High School in the class of 1953.  She went to work to provide for her family at the International Shoe Factory, later at American Safety and retired from the McDonalds at 13th and Broadway in Quincy.

Away from work, Margaret enjoyed going on trips in the truck with her husband, and visiting Nashville was always an experience for Margaret.  Margaret was no stranger to cooking home cooked meals.  Sunday dinners with her family were her specialty with her famous fried chicken being one of the main courses.  In her free time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, feeding the animals in her yard or that may have shown up on the doorstep and rooting on her grandchildren at their sporting events.

Margaret was a member of the First Christian Church of Palmyra.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Brocksieck, Blayne White, Clayton White, Jeremy Watkins, Luke Stratton and Brandon Underwood.

The family would like to extend their thankfulness for the wonderful care that Dana, Christina and Chaplain Mark with Community Loving Care Hospice provided to them during this time of grief.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
