Josephine Hodson Obituary
Mrs. Josephine Eloise Hodson, 92, of Holts Summit, MO., formerly of Hannibal, MO, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at her residence.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Southside Baptist Church in Hannibal.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Scott Hawes will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal.
Josephine was born on June 9, 1924, in Pittsfield, IL, the daughter of Ida Bonnet and William Dunham.
She was married on August 9, 1942 in Vandalia, MO, to Russell Edward Hodson of Barry, IL. He
preceded her in death on May 12, 2005.
She was also preceded in death by a beloved son Larry Edward on February 14, 2006, her parents, four brothers, seven sisters and one great grandson, Thomas (TJ).
Survivors include her daughter, Sondra Villa and her husband Robert of Holts Summit, eight grandchildren; Robert Gary Villa and his wife Patti, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Shiralee Beck and her husband Wes, Knob Noster, MO; Sheila Heather, Holts Summit, MO, Tommy Hodson, Hannibal, MO; Shona Ebers and her husband Kurt, Hannibal, MO; Larry Hodson and his wife Ginger, Hannibal, MO; Brian Villa, St. Louis, MO and Sherri Holland, Holts Summit, MO; eleven great grandchildren, Misty, Amber, Kyle, Abby, Trey, Isabelle, Chloe, Landon, Mia, Olivia, and Eva; one great-great grandson, Brogan.
Josephine was employed by International Shoe in Hannibal, and Motorola in Quincy, IL.
She was a member of Southside Baptist church for many years and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and many church friends.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, fishing, eating out and spending time with her family.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Southside Baptist Church, 701 Fulton Avenue, Hannibal, MO 63401 or to the American Heart Association, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
