Curtis Hammock Obituary

Curtis Wayne Hammock, 73, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 9:05 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Jeff Anderson will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors provided by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation will be held 9:00 AM until the time of the service Monday at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.

Wayne was born November 14, 1942, in Hannibal, MO the son of Elmer and Lillian (Hoffman) Hammock.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Fuhrman July 16, 1966, in Hannibal, MO at Calvary Baptist Church. She survives him.

Other survivors include two brothers, Jim Hammock (Wilma) and Kent Hammock (Rhonda) all of Hannibal, MO; one sister-in-law, Beverly Hammock of Rensselaer, MO; one son-in-law, Daniel E. Owens, Jr.; two grandchildren, Danny Wayne Owen and Hayley Carolyn Owen; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hammock was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Owen and one brother, Dan Hammock.

Wayne graduated from Hannibal High School in 1960. After graduation he served his country in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Japan. Shortly after returning from the Navy, Wayne went for work at Gardner Denver in Quincy, where he was a machinist for over 30 years before retiring.

Wayne enjoyed doing carpentry work around the house and tinkering with his campers. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with Carolyn and Paula. Most of all, Wayne enjoyed watching his daughter play sports in high school and college.

Mr. Hammock was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hammock, Bryan Hammock, Brad Hammock, Josh Hammock, Wes McGowan and Kent Hammock.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
