Beverly Mounts Obituary
Beverly Joan Mounts, 81, of St. Louis, Mo. formerly of Hannibal, Mo. passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel, in Hannibal. Pastor Dan Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
Beverly was born July 26, 1934, in Hannibal, Mo. the daughter of Ernest Francis and Mabel Esther Robertson Mounts.
Survivors include one sister, Marilyn Bartels, one niece, Karla Thies and husband Duane, and one great niece, Jennifer Thies all of St. Joseph, Mo.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Eugene A. Bartels and best friend and teaching colleague, Lorena McCutchen.
Ms. Mounts graduated from Hannibal High School, she went on to further her education at Hannibal LaGrange Junior College and later graduated from Northeast Missouri State (Truman State) with a master's degree in education. Beverly served as a teacher in Clarksville, Mo., Keokuk, Ia., Louisiana, Mo., Gary Ind., Webster Groves, Mo., University City, Mo., and Bayless School District, in Affton, Mo before retiring after 30 years.
Beverly enjoyed her dogs, reading, making beaded calendars, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Mounts was a member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church, she previously was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Hannibal.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Hannibal, in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
