Ronald “Ron” Ray Ashburn, 70, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 5:40 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Beth Haven Nursing Home.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.
Per Ron’s request there will be no services held.
Ron was born on September 25, 1948, in Hannibal, MO the son of Charles Eugene and Fern Charlene (Moore) Ashburn.
Ron was united in marriage to Lynda Wehrenberg on April 26, 1970 at Calvary Baptist Church in Hannibal. She survives him.
Other survivors include a son, Ben Ashburn and wife Jennifer of Austin, TX; a daughter, Megan Duncan and husband Shawn of Hannibal, MO; nine grandchildren, Connor Duncan, Logan Duncan, Caleb Ashburn, Katie Ashburn, Nathan Ashburn, Noah Ashburn, Mirlanda Ashburn, Mackenson Ashburn and Mackenley Ashburn.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashburn was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Eugen Ashburn.
Ron graduated from Hannibal High School in 1966. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon being honorably discharged, Ron went on to further his education at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Ron worked as a local Pharmacist in Hannibal and before retirement was employed as a Pharmacist at Walmart.
Ron enjoyed the simple things in life. In his spare time Ron enjoyed woodworking, handy work around the house, cooking and baking, working crossword puzzles and reading, especially the Bible.
Ron was filled with stories of his childhood and his war time on submarines, which he retold with a dry wit and unique life lessons.
Ron’s biggest love was his family. They will always cherish in their hearts the time they spent together and the memories that were made.
Mr. Ashburn was a member of Salt River Christian Church.
