Lynda M. Niffen, 70, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:47 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2019, at her home. She celebrated her 70th birthday in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Michael Neff will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation celebrating Lynda’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Lynda was born on August 12, 1949, in Louisiana, MO the daughter of George Lester and Laura Amanda (Wintjen) Niffen.
Survivors include her children, James A. Bufford, Kim Rhodes (Jason), and Amanda Rhodes (Danny) all of Hannibal, MO; siblings, Mary Foiles of Louisiana, MO, Shirley Robinson (James) of Guatemala, South America, Laverne Goree of Hannibal, MO, James Niffen (Stacey) of Bowling Green, MO, and Brenda Culp (David) of Booneville, MO. Grandchildren, Kayla Crew, Shelby Rhodes, Alex Bufford, and Dalton Higgins; great grandchildren, Kobey Hudelson, Sabrina Bufford, Aliyah Crew, Tabitha Charlton, and Aubry Wiley; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Niffen was preceded in death by her siblings, Eugene Niffen, Wanda Niffen, Sarah Niffen, Glenda Moody, Harold Niffen, Geroge Niffen, Darlene Huff, Robert Niffen, William Niffen and Joyce Niffen; grandchildren, Justin Bufford and Katie Bufford; and great grandchild Bryson McReynolds.
Lynda previously worked as a seamstress for many years. She later worked at DURA until her retirement.
Away from work, Ms. Niffen enjoyed crocheting, she was also very talented at sewing, and spent many hours searching her family ancestry. Lynda also enjoyed the simple things in life like flowers especially chrysanthemums and carnations. When time allowed she enjoyed watching The Golden Girls, Roseanne, Grace Under Fire, movies featuring Steven Seagal, and reading western romance novels.
Lynda’s biggest love was her family. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ms. Niffen was a Christian by faith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Rhodes, Danny Rhodes, Alex Bufford, and Kobey Hudelson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the James E. Cary Cancer Center or Community Loving Care Hospice, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
