George Wilfred "Willie" Foreman

George Wilfred (Willie) Foreman, 91, of Withers Mill, MO passed away at 4:36 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Luther Manor Retirement &Nursing Center in Hannibal, MO.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Big Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer, MO.  Burial with committal prayers will follow the service in the Big Creek Cemetery.  Rev. Nathan Markley will officiate.

Visitation celebrating Willie’s life will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal, MO.

A second visitation will be held 10 a.m. until the service Saturday morning at the church.

Willie was born on September 24, 1927, at home in Rensselaer, MO, the eleventh of twelve children born to Paul and Louise (Brown) Foreman.  Willie graduated from Rensselaer High School and went on to further his education at Hannibal-LaGrange College, and honorably served his country in the United States Army.  On August 28, 1949, he married Ruth Elma Ihrig of Withers Mill.

After teaching two years in Cantril Iowa Public School, he returned to the Withers Mill community to farm until his retirement.  Mr. Foreman was a charter member of the Mark Twain Men’s Chorale and was a life-long member of Big Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Willie is survived by his wife, Ruth; six children, Gary (Ann) of Palmyra, MO, Sarah Chisamore (Jim) of Rochelle, IL, Bruce (Beth) of Holland, MI, Joe (Marcia) of Troy, MO, Jesse (Amy) of Benson, AZ, and Jay (DeeDee) of Collinsville, OK: twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Foreman of Columbia, MO, and Dr. Phillip Foreman of Hannibal, MO; and one sister, Renee Holloway of Eldon, MO.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Foreman was preceded in death by an infant son, Bradley Foreman; six brothers, Calvin, Allen, Paul (Mac), Robert, Benjamin, and Thomas; two sisters, Mary Ruth Burris and Helen Grimstad.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Big Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
