Carolyn Ann Hammock

Carolyn Ann Hammock, 76, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Luther Manor Retirement and Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hannibal, MO.  Pastor Jeff Anderson will officiate.  Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation will be held 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church.

The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal, MO.

Carolyn was born on September 2, 1942, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Oree  and Ressie Mae (Kirby) Fuhrman.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Curtis Wayne Hammock on July 16, 1966, in Hannibal, MO.  He preceded her in death on December 22, 2015.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Daniel E. Owen, Jr.; grandchildren, Danny Wayne Owen and Hayley Carolyn Owen; two brothers-in-law, Jim Hammock (Wilma) and Kent Hammock (Rhonda); numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hammock was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Owen.

Carolyn previously worked at Claytons Savings & Loan and later at Hannibal-LaGrange College.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Carolyn and Wayne were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church.  They enjoyed attending church together, Sunday School and visiting fellow church members or friends that were homebound or in the hospital or nursing centers.  Upon Wayne’s death, Carolyn continued to be a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church until she was unable due to health reasons.  

Carolyn and Wayne loved fishing.  If the weather permitted, Carolyn and Wayne could be seen around Hannibal fishing various rivers, streams and ponds.  Camping was another enjoyment of theirs.   Bennett Springs was one of their favorite places to go camping, fishing and enjoy the great outdoors.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hammock, Kent Hammock, Bryan Hammock, Josh Hammock, Brad Hammock and Wesley McGowan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
