Carol was born on March 7, 1948, in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Maurice Lane and Helen Louise (Mayor) Clark, Jr.

She was united in marriage to David Allen Davis on August 7, 1971, at the First Christian Church in LaBelle, MO.

Carol is survived by her husband, David A. Davis of the home; son, Christopher Clark Davis (Lynne Reed) of Rolla, MO; daughter, L. Lou Davis (Audra Sergel) of Columbia, MO; granddaughter, Ciara (CeCe) Cheyanne Davis Frazier and husband Paul of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother, William Lane Clark of Fort Worth, TX; aunt Mary V. Martin Clark of Punta Gorda, FL; brother-in-law, Tim T. Davis and wife Mary Jo of Mexico, MO and two nephews and a niece.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol grew up in Kirksville, MO and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1966.  She went on to further her education at Columbia Christian College in Columbia, MO where she received her A.A. Degree and later transferred to NMSU (Truman University) and received her B.S. in Education.  Later in her career, Carol received her Master of Education from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.

Carol taught school for over thirty-two years.  Her teaching career lead her to teaching in Mexico, MO, Lewis Co. C-School District, Knox County School District (Novelty & Edina)  and Hannibal Public School District #60 (Oakwood Elementary School) before her retirement in 2006.

Carol met the love of her life, David Davis on a blind date arranged by one of her co-teachers in Mexico.  Carol and David later moved to LaBelle, MO where David was the manager of Coder Funeral Home.  While in LaBelle, Carol was an active member of the LaBelle First Christian Church and served as the church organist for twelve years as well as being involved with the youth, women’s group, and was instrumental in starting the Living Nativity.

In 1985, Carol and her family moved to Hannibal so her husband could continue his career as a funeral director at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel and she began teaching at Oakwood Elementary School until her retirement.  While in the Hannibal School District she presented numerous workshops for teachers and was featured in Newsweek magazine for her teaching methods.  After retirement, Mrs. Davis taught graduate classes at Hannibal LaGrange University.  Teaching Kindergarten was her passion.

Carol was a faithful member of the First Christian Church (DOC) in Hannibal.  Her involvement throughout the church included (CWF) Christian Women’s Fellowship, she served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, member of various committees such as the WeCare board and the Prayer Shawl Ministry, along with serving as a board member of  NE Area Christian Church.

Away from work and church, Carol was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter KV, PEO Sisterhood, Sigma Sigma Sigma social sorority, and OES #316.

Mrs. Davis loved her family and cherished the time spent together with them, especially her granddaughter, CeCe.  She also enjoyed genealogy, swimming, sailing, fishing, reading, shopping with her friends (her angels), Donna, Shelley, and Bobbie.

Carol also enjoyed the simple things in life like trips across the country side with her husband enjoying Gods creation.  It was not unusual for her to insist that Dave stop the car along the side of the road and give money or food and drink to people down on their luck – even inviting them into the car and taking them to a restaurant and visiting with them – raising their spirits.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Youth Fund or Caring Hands Tutoring Program, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
