Allen Frederick Hughson

Allen Frederick Hughson, 78, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

The family will host a memorial service at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Allen was born on December 28, 1940, in Oelwein, IA the son of Frederick and Margaret (McLeisch) Hughson.  He was united in marriage to Josalena “Jody” Scott on February 14, 1974, in Hannibal, MO.  She preceded him in death on July 22, 2009.

Survivors include his children, Frederick Hughson (Alicia) of Hannibal, MO, Michael Hull (Wendy) of Center, MO, AJ Murphy (Heidi) of Ventura. IA, Jill Stump of Hannibal, MO, Jacqueline Vande Brake of Belleview, NE, Christina Rolling (Conley) of Bandcraft, IA: sister Helen Campbell (Steve) of Cedar Rapids, IA and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Hughson was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Norell and Scot Norell, brother, Robert L. Hughson and sister-in-law, Joanne, and grandson, Nicholas John Hull.

Allen previously worked as an electrician in maintenance at Goodyear before his retirement.

Mr. Hughson was an avid gardener and in his free time enjoyed selling the fruits of his labor at local farmers markets.  Allen also enjoyed reading and watching western movie’s, antiquing and picking, in his younger years he enjoyed fishing and was very talented at billiards.  Away from work and play, Allen was known for being an outstanding cook, fried chicken and steaks were his specialty.

Allen’s biggest love was his family.  They will always love and cherish their time together.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Salvation Army, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
