Phyllis W. Fierke, 81, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 6:04 AM Saturday, December 19, 2015, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Steve Barker will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Phyllis was born January 29, 1934, in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Walter and Thelma (Roach) Wilson.
She was united in marriage to John R. (Jack) Fierke on May 14, 1955, in Richmond, MO. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2007.
Survivors include three children: Jeff Fierke of Springfield, MO, Susan Kelly and husband Jimmie of Denver, CO, and John W. Fierke and wife Regina of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren: MacKenzie Kelly, Conor Kelly, Patrick Miller-Pochuski (Kasia), Travis Miller, Samantha Fierke and Julie Kaczmark (Jim),; and three great-grandchildren: Simone Kaczmark, Seth Kaczmark and Tate Pochuski .
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fierke was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Wilson.
Phyllis graduated from Richmond High School, Richmond, MO, in 1952. She went on to further her education at William Woods College and graduated in 1954 with an Associate of Arts degree.
Phyllis was an avid bridge player with the Wednesday bridge club at the Hannibal Country Club and enjoyed traveling with her mother and sister to several different countries, in addition to needlepoint, gardening and cooking. Phyllis and Jack were avid genealogists who could be found gathering information in cemeteries, libraries and courthouses across the United States.
Phyllis' biggest passion was spending time with her family.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hannibal.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Fierke, John Fierke, Jimmie Kelly, Patrick Miller-Pochuski, Travis Miller and Conor Kelly.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, James E. Cary Cancer Center or Hospice Promise Foundation in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
