Mary Mahsman Obituary

Mary Elizabeth (Neff) Mahsman, 83, of Palmyra, Mo. passed away at 9:12 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely, Mo. Pastor Kenneth Schamber will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, in Hannibal.

Mary was born on June 16, 1932, in Hannibal, Mo. the daughter of Oney and Amelia (Browning) Neff. She was married to Gerald W. Mahsman on June 8, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2013.

Survivors include fourteen children, Pat Barber (Bill) of Jefferson City, Mo., Debra Shrum (David) of Macon, Mo., Mike Mahsman (Judy) of Hannibal, Mo., Kathy Mahsman of Palmyra, Mo., Phillip Mahsman (Brenda), Randy Mahsman (Stacey), Amy Tallman (Jerry), all of New London, Mo., Cindy Pettibone (Wells) of Hannibal, Mo., Buddy Mahsman (Debbie), Barbara Falls (Brian), both of Palmyra, Mo., Laurie Mahsman of St. Charles, Mo., Mark Mahsman (Heather) of Quincy, Ill., Doug Mahsman (Michelle) of Hannibal, Mo. and Kimberly Martin (Jason) of Salem, Mo.; one son-in-law, Ron Tourney of Clay Center, Ks,; one brother, Duane Neff (Irene) of Marissa, Ill; two sisters, Eleanor Willsey and Virginia "Penny" Stoll both of Hannibal, Mo.; forty six grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mahsman was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeri Elizabeth Tourney, and one brother-in-law, Robert Willsey.

Mrs. Mahsman graduated from Monroe City High School in 1949. Shortly after graduation she married the love of her life Gerald W. Mahsman. Mary was a very hard working, loving wife and mother of fifteen children.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, crossword puzzles and camping. Mary was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading Westerns. Her true passion was providing for her children and helping raise the grandchildren. She also enjoyed helping on the family farm. Mrs.

Mahsman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely.

Pallbearers will be her six sons, Mike, Phillip, Randy, Buddy, Mark and Doug.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
