Lilburn Shores, 91, of Hannibal, Mo. passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Andrew Peter Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Lilburn was born on February 11, 1925, in Hannibal, Mo. the daughter of Cyrus L. and Frances Hogg Anderson.
She was married to Clayton Shores on April 10, 1948, in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1992.
Mrs. Shores is survived by three sons, Steven C. Shores and wife Kathy of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Kim A. Shores and wife Lisa of Hannibal, Mo. and Andrew C. Shores and wife Jennifer of Hannibal, Mo; one daughter, Lynn Essig and husband Dave of Palmyra, Mo; nine grandchildren, Chad Shores, Nickki Drebenstedt, Andrea Seppelt, Deidre Heggedal, Fred Carroz, Nick Carroz, Kristen Shores, Clint Carroz, and Andrew Shores; ten great-grandchildren and one niece, Sally Shepherd.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shores was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Tilton.
Lilburn graduated from Hannibal High School in 1942. She started working in sales in 1964 for KHMO. She later went to work as a real estate agent for Walley Real Estate. Lilburn was very successful at real estate and was a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club before her retirement.
Lilburn was a member of the Hannibal Heritage Chapter DAR. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, reading and traveling.
Mrs. Shores was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal, where she faithfully attended church and Bible Study Class.
Pallbearers will be Dale Shepherd, Fred Carroz, Nick Carroz, Clint Carroz, Andrew Shores and Chad Shores.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Hospice Promise Foundation or Luther Manor Nursing Home, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
