Joy Suzette Maple, 63, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Bruce Bouman will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Joy was born November 17, 1954, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Francis David Maple and Marguerite (Tyree) Maple Darley.
Survivors include her mother, Marguerite Darley of Hannibal, MO; children, Angela Denise Rucker (Andy), and Derrick Richard Robertson (Jennifer); sister, Teresa Huffman (Don); brother, Dwayne Maple (Kay); seven grandchildren, Emery, Ethan, Zachary and Luke Rucker, Audra, Brodie and Ezmae Robertson; several nieces, nephews and a lifelong friend, Harriet Rosenkranz, all of whom Joy loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father David Maple, Dad, Leo Darley, and nephew, Leslie Robert Huston.
Joy attended Hannibal High School. She previously worked at Food 4 Less for almost 20 years where she met and enjoyed getting to know the many customers. Later, Joy worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections in Bowling Green, MO as a corrections officer where she was commended for her job performance.
Joy enjoyed attending church at Mt. Zion Christian Church. As a diabetic, Joy liked to share recipes with other diabetics. She cherished the time spent with her family. She also enjoyed listening to music, cooking and watching television.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Robertson, Andy Rucker, Dwayne Maple, Don Robertson, Ethan Rucker and Brodie Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Maple's grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
