Eva Gentry Obituary

Eva D. Davis Gentry was born to eternal life at 6:50 pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Beth Haven Nursing Home.

Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the First Christian Church in Hannibal, Missouri. The Reverend Steve Barker will officiate. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at the Grand View Burial Park.

Eva Dale Davis was born to life October 23, 1928, in Edina, MO to Earl Leroy & Josephine Virginia Endres Davis. She was married to Malcolm Henry Gentry on July 17, 1949, in Pike County Missouri. He survives.

Other survivors include 5 children, Malcolm John Gentry and wife Suzanne Peer Gentry, of Hannibal, MO; Dr. Deborah Gentry Loman and husband Dr. Leo Anthony Loman of Kirkwood, MO; Jerome (Jerry) H. Gentry of Hannibal, MO; Jeffrey Earl Gentry and wife Teresa Hendricks Gentry of Hannibal, MO; and Susan Gentry Ledbetter and husband Timothy Wayne Ledbetter of Hannibal, MO.

10 Grandchildren Jamil Loman (Brenda) of Tucson, AZ; Marcus Loman (Katherine) of Ballwin, MO; Candace Thornwald (William) of Spokane, MO; Elizabeth Brunner (Gregory) of St. Peter's, MO; John Steven Gentry of Center, MO; Nicholas Gentry (Hannah) of Hannibal, MO; Rebecca Colgin (Aaron) of Edmond, OK; Benjamin Gentry of Hannibal, MO; Jacob Gentry of Las Vegas, NV; and Adam Ledbetter of Hannibal, MO. 2 Step-Grandchildren Amanda Wiedeman (Ryan) of Brookville, MO and Sandra Johnson (Aaron) of Linneus, MO.

8 Great-Grandchildren Mateo Loman of Tucson, AZ; Isaac, Max & Chase Loman of Ballwin, MO; Miriam, Cecilia & Leo Brunner of St. Peters, MO; Lincoln Gentry of Hannibal, MO, and Alexandria LeMaster Gentry of Hannibal, MO. 5 Step-Great Grandchildren Clara, Kai & Kyle Wiedeman of Brookfield, MO and Gabe & Sela Johnson of Linneus, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Joel Anthony Gentry, brother Earl Davis, Jr., sister-in-law Delores Davis and nephew Steven J. Davis.

As daughter of a Missouri State Highway Patrolman, Eva D. Gentry was reared in Knox, Macon, Adair, Livingston, Lewis and Marion Counties. She graduated from Hannibal High School in 1946, and from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, St. Louis, in 1949. She volunteered as a Red Cross Gray Lady for 18 years in Hannibal and was a member of the First Christian Church, Hannibal, MO where she formerly served as a church school teacher and church school secretary.

Her special interests were her family, genealogy and antiques.

Pallbearers will be Jamil Loman, Marcus Loman, John Steven Gentry, Nicholas Gentry, Gregory Brunner and Timothy Ledbetter.

Honorary pallbearers will be additional grand-children & great grand-children.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church College Scholarship Fund, Hannibal, MO, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
