Walter Willis Baker, Jr., 83, of Hannibal, died at 6:10 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, Rev. Jeff Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services Saturday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Walter, the only child of Walter W. Baker, Sr. and Rose Glenn Baker was born December 20, 1928, in Hannibal. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne Treon Baker, one daughter, Angela Susan Fore and husband Butch Fore of Chillicothe, one granddaughter, Tiffany Link and husband Stephen Link of Carterville, Ill. and one grandson, Spenser Eggleston of Hannibal.

Walter retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years, stationed in Guam during the Korean Conflict. Walter was a graduate of Hannibal High School, class of 1946.

He so very much enjoyed spending time with Tiff and Spens, his grandchildren. Walter was treasured by his family and friends, and he will be missed more than words can express.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Community Loving Care Hospice in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pallbearers will be Francis Wells, Bill Garner, Ronnie Riggs, Herman Scott, Larry Taylor, Lyle Todd and Marvin Houser.
