Mary Margaret Turnbull

Mary M. Turnbull, 90, of Hannibal, died at 4:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Rev. Jeff Voepel will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services Thursday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Mrs. Turnbull was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Ralls County, Mo., to Edward Hubbard and Ruby Frances Truitt Brown. She married Richard J. Turnbull, June 8, 1941, in Hannibal and he preceded her in death. Survivors include, two nieces, Sharon (Bob) Williams of New London, Jan (Doug) Perryman of Overland Park, Kans.; four nephews, Don (Kathy) Northcutt of Gladstone, Mo., Jerry Northcutt of Charlottesville,Va., Harold (Mary Lee) Treaster of Leawood, Kans. and Bob (Deanna) Treaster of Holt, Mo.; and several great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Turnbull was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Zelma Northcutt, Hilda Hall and one brother, Francis H. Brown.

Mary worked at Commerce Bank in Hannibal for several years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Sunshine Club at the church. She volunteered with R.S.V.P. and at the Mark Twain Home. Mary served as an election judge in Marion County for several years and formerly was a member of the Luther Manor Auxiliary. She graduated from the New London High School. Pallbearers will be Mary’s nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Sunshine Club or Beth Haven Nursing Home Gardens (Alzheimer’s Unit) in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Online condolences to the family may be offered at www.smithfuneralhomeandchapel.com
