Roberta Locke

Roberta Locke, 87, of Hannibal, died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, Mar. 18, 2012, at Luther Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, Rev. Helen McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel

Roberta was born November 1, 1924, to Don C. and Grace A. (Harrell) Patrick in Hannibal. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Alvin Locke, Sr. on Aug. 4, 1946, in the Hannibal home of Rev. John Golden. She is survived by nine children; Linda (Mike) Lake, JuneAnn (Rich) Piper, Kenny Locke, Jr., Dan (Judy) Locke, Brenda (Pat) Newell, Gerald (Kathy) Locke, John (Sue) Locke, Terry (Becky) Locke and Jeff (Kori) Locke. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren; Shane McClelland, Michael McClelland Alisha Alright, Jeremy Lake, Shawn Nichols, Dennis Nichols, Paula Hays, Marni Kendrick, Jamie Locke, Whitney Holliday, Fred Newell, Bob Newell, Jason Locke, Ryan Locke, Ryan Greving, Luke Greving, Amber Borgmeyer, Jennifer Locke, Angie McClimon , Jordan Locke, Madeline Locke, Christian Locke, Ellie Locke, Katie Locke, Jared Locke and Zach Locke. She is also survived by thirty eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, her parents, one sister, Vivian Tischer and one brother, Edward Patrick. She was also preceded by two grandchildren, Eric and Kory Locke and one daughter-in-law, April Locke.

Before marriage she worked as a telephone operator, and after her husband’s death she worked in the cafeteria at Central Elementary School. She was a stay at home mother and homemaker while raising her children. Roberta was a longtime member of Hydesburg United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Hydesburg Extension Club and volunteered for R.S.V.P. She enjoyed traveling and enjoyed playing games on Friday nights with her close friends.

Pallbearers will be her six sons. Memorials may be made to Hydesburg United Methodist Church in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Condolences to the family may be offered at www.smithfuneralhomeandchapel.com.
